What is the difference between adding tax and reverse calculation?

In the add tax direction, you input the net price excluding tax, and the tool adds tax based on the rate to find the total including tax. In the reverse direction, you input the total price including tax, and the tool reverse-calculates the net amount and the tax amount within it. Both directions cover common needs for invoicing and reconciliation.

What are CGST and SGST?

In intra-state transactions in India, GST is split equally between Central Tax (CGST) and State Tax (SGST). This tool automatically splits the calculated tax equally into CGST and SGST columns for easy invoice filling. For inter-state transactions, IGST is used instead, which equals the sum of both.

Yes. The tax rate can be entered arbitrarily; the preset tiers are just common values for Indian GST (5/12/18/28% etc.). Change the tax rate to your country's VAT rate for universal use. All calculations are done locally in the browser, no data is uploaded.
