Which hash algorithms are supported? Will files be uploaded?

MD5 and SHA-1 have been proven to have collisions and should no longer be used for security signatures or tamper-proofing; however, they are still common for non-adversarial purposes like file integrity checks, deduplication, and interfacing with legacy systems. For security, prefer SHA-256 or SHA-512.

Why is the hash result always the same for the same content?

Hash is a deterministic function: the same input always produces the same output, even if only one byte is changed, the output changes drastically. This is the principle used to verify if a file has been tampered with or if a download is complete.
